An ad on craigslist caught my eye & this turned into a trip to a nearby aircraft hanger to see about an old Aronson C1000 welding positioner. Actually a universal balance positioner which is a really neat tool in its own right, however I had slightly different intentions. By adding a 30×30 piece of 5/8 steel plate in which I’d drilled and tapped an array of 1/2-13 holes, the positioner became a welding and fixturing table. The resulting table rotates on two axis, locks in a variety of positions, and has a capacity of about 840lbs.
